Unified messaging
Every incoming call is a challenge today - missed calls, as well as any delays in answering calls or failure to adhere to professional standards when processing calls may spoil business opportunities. Messaging systems range among the tools used for ensuring the professional processing of incoming calls. In addition to voice mail, Messaging may also provide the function of an automatic switchboard operator and automatic processing of incoming calls. It is possible to play a previously prepared message to the person calling, directing the call according to answers in a menu. The call may also be redirected to another number. If the person calling leaves a voice message, the user is notified e.g. with a message, outbound call, turning-on of the message waiting indicator.
Besides voice messages, Messaging also enables the processing of text messages in the form of e-mails or faxes. Messaging integrates these types of messages and makes it possible to process them in a uniform manner. The user may use several devices to access his or her messages, including telephone, fax and PC. Depending on the method of access, e-mails are converted into voice (message reading), or voice messages are converted into e-mails (speech to text). The system may be controlled via a telephone keyboard, with voice commands (using the voice recognition feature), or the messages may be selected with IMAP for further processing.
